Frequently Asked questions

Do ECU Remaps Affect Reliability?

Remapping your ECU for additional power will put your vehicle's mechanical components under more stress than usual. Although all our remaps are designed to operate within the manufacturers mechanical tolerances and are dyno tested, in some circumstances older vehicles with higher mileage and poor servicing/maintenance history may experience minor issues as already worn out components in the vehicle may begin to fail. Rest assured, many of these parts tend to be minor & cheap. We always conduct a complete diagnostic scan on your vehicle to ensure it is fit to be tuned beforehand to prevent this from happening.

Does Tuning Affect your Fuel Economy?

Yes and No. Most of the stage 1 tunes we offer in-fact improve your vehicle's fuel economy in the lower rev ranges so you can save on fuel when driving normally. However, once you start pushing the vehicle to higher rev ranges and start demanding more power, you will notice a slight decrease in fuel economy. Our stage 2 tunes are geared purely towards performance, so fuel economy will be reduced in order to support the extra power being made. In most cases however, you will not notice any considerable decreases in fuel economy as we only make slight adjustments when necessary, to your vehicle's fuel maps.

Will Tuning Affect My Vehicle Warranty?

Most vehicle manufacturers will not provide warranty to a vehicle which has been tuned if they find out the ECU has been remapped. Most new vehicles generally tend to still have warranties or extended warranties to cover for mechanical failures. When a manufacturer finds the vehicle has been remapped, they will usually revoke you of the warranty as it is not a factory or manufacturer supplied job.

Can I Reclaim My Vehicle's Warranty After a Tune?

If you wish to reclaim your vehicle's warranty, we offer a stock ECU remap at a standard charge of $200 to bring your vehicle back to original so you can then reclaim your warranty. Most dealers often do not check for ECU remaps when reclaiming warranty as they do not have the necessary tools required to do this. However depending on how expensive the warranty repairs are, a certified mechanic may use specialised equipment which will allow them to see whether or not your vehicle has been remapped in the past.
